Hi!
I’m Gum Tree, a homemaker who loves her family.
I get excited over a good book, BYU football, adoption, food, foster care, home decor, adventures and the opportunity to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. My favorite thing is seeing my family extra happy. Like most moms my days are filled with the laughter of my children, changing diapers, cleaning, organizing my home and figuring out whats for dinner. When I get free time I enjoy creating things while I listen to an audio book or watch one of my go to movies (Harry Potter, Anne of Green Gables, or something from Jane Austen). Occasionally I decorate my house, although thats been put on the back burner while I grow our latest family addition.
I write about adoption, foster care, infertility, the miracles that is God’s plan for us, and life in between. Some of that centers around our sons who joined our forever family via foster care. The ultimate goal of this blog is to be encouraging to whoever stumbles upon it and let you know that you are not alone.
If you want to know more about me follow along as I fill this blog with the happenings of our wonderful and unexpected life. You can also find me on pinterest and instagram.
Have a g’day.

I came over from Erin Bohn’s Adoption Talk linkup. 🙂
I, too, have adopted through foster care, which was undoubtedly God’s plan. I love meeting others who have gone through the foster-adopt process. Pop over to my blog if you’re interested in getting to know me better.
We kept our daughters’ first names but changed our older daughter’s middle name. She was given the feminine version of her biological grandfather’s name, who was a meth dealer. Not a legacy we wanted her to carry on! I gave her my first name as her middle name when we signed the adoption papers, and she loves it!
P.S. I tried to comment on today’s adoption post but kept getting an error message, which is why I posted all this stuff here. 🙂

Sorry. I don’t know why is would do that. I will have to look into it. I completely understand your desire to change her name when it has that connection and it can definitely be a treasured thing to share a name with a parent.

Hello! I really enjoy reading your posts! I am a fellow foster parent, fairly new, working through adoption. What a crazy ride. 🙂 Your story on how you became foster parents, really resonated with me and my hubby.
I just started a blog, I hope to be as successful as you have become. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
